The former MLB star is competing for the late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat against Schiff and other Democratic contenders.

The California Senate race intensifies as Super Tuesday approaches, with newcomer Steve Garvey and Adam Schiff in a “statistical tie,” as per a UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll. Garvey, a former MLB star, vies for the late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat against Schiff and other Democratic contenders.

Will Steve Garvey emerge victorious in California?

In a state where Republicans haven’t won a Senate race since 1988, Democrats were initially confident of victory. However, the leading Democratic contender has been overshadowed by the first-time candidate and former Dodgers star.

In California, all candidates are placed on a single primary ballot regardless of their party affiliations. The top two candidates, regardless of party, move on to the general election. According to early polls, Garvey is poised to secure the second spot on the November ballot, potentially surpassing Barbara Lee and Katie Porter, as reported by AP.

In a recent appearance on Fox & Friends, the 10-time MLB All-Star expressed his sentiments, stating, “The people of California, who have been suppressed by one party, are saying they’re mad.” Steve Garvey showcased his confidence in voters, asserting, “They’re not going to take it anymore.” He emphasized his belief that Californians understand “his heart” and would support him at the polls.

Steve Garvey emphasized the need for change, stating, “These are career politicians who have failed the people, and it’s time for change, a fresh young face, with new ideas… Somebody that knows that he can make a difference, and I think people believe that I can,” as reported by Fox News.

The poll indicates that Garvey has the support of 27% of voters, while Schiff trails closely behind with 25%, highlighting the tight competition between the two candidates. Despite the low voter turnout, both candidates remain optimistic ahead of Election Day. Garvey expressed confidence, stating, “Once I started running, they started listening to my common sense, compassionate, consensus-building plea to them.”

Steve Garvey further elaborated on his platform, stating, “Let me fight crime in the streets for you. Let me try to get the homeless off the streets and get care for them. Let me help fight the border.” He emphasized the seriousness of the situation, highlighting the cartels as the true terrorists due to their infiltration and organization, stating, “It’s the true war against America.”
